How to convert image to vector?

Converting an image to vector can be done in several ways. For example, you can vectorize an image in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, or Inkscape. 

Without knowledge of Adobe Illustrator it is not possible to convert your image to vector for free. Do you have no knowledge of these types of programs? You can use our vector service.

A vector file is an image made up of paths. These paths have a start and end point. All these paths then form your logo or image. A JPGor PNG file consists of pixels. Converting a JPG or PNG image file to vector is possible.

The most common vector file formats or abbreviations are: EPS, AI, PDF or SVG.

Adobe Photoshop is a photo-editing program based on pixels and not intended for vectorization. Although it is possible to vectorize in Photoshop, we never recommend this, because you simply won't get the quality you want. Convert image to vector Illustrator

As mentioned, you can create a vector file in Adobe Illustrator. A JPG or PNG you can convert to an eps vector using Image Trace. Below is a short tutorial: How do I turn a PNG into a vector?

1. Open Adobe Illustrator
2. Open the PNG, you want to vectorize in Illustrator using the "File" menu. 
3. Click Image Trace.
4. Click the "Object" menu, then click "Image Trace" and "Create".
5. Choose Tracking Options and see which setting gives the best results.
6. Export your image as eps vector file or pdf vector file. 

Image Trace allows you to convert an image to vector fairly quickly. Unfortunately, the quality is often disappointing. To get a perfectly identical result, you need to convert your image manually with the Pen Tool. 

Convert image to vector for free

You can also convert your file to vector through an online tool. Vectormagic used to be free, but unfortunately they have a pricing model added. Create a vector file free is really only possible if you understand Adobe Illustrator. Alternatively, it's possible to convert image to vector with Inkscape or GIMP.
